Many of the musicians I know are some of the hardest working business women and men out there. That being said, I think paying for the music that we listen to is important, and I find that purchasing music is actually a vital part of the listening experience itself. This is not only because purchasing the music supports the artist that created it but also gives the music more value. Yes - some things I definitely think are super valuable BECAUSE they are given, but music it was not given in most cases, it was stolen. Learning to truly value music must start at the very beginning. Truly valuing must start with a thought. "I think this is worth something and I am going to spend my money on it."

I used to have an iPod that was filled with music my friends, family, ex-boyfriends put on it. On a trip I lost my iPod and had to start over. I decided I was going to hand pick and buy everything that went on my iPod. That mindset has really helped to narrow down what I listen to and experience as a music listener.

It used to be that if you wanted your favorite band's latest album you’d have to make effort to go to the store to purchase it.  Now everything is so accessible and the art of purchasing music has kind of gotten lost. One thing that cannot get lost, though, is the value of the music. So I say start to change your outlook on the value of a piece of music! Go buy an album today!!

Happy Listening!
