What's the story of the socks? "When I was little I played soccer. I had red ones and blue ones and I mixed it up (for Cubs games). I've been doing this every year since, probably, I was 10."
Does this look make you a chick magnet? (Laughing) "It's hard not to be."
You've been a Cubs fan…: "All my life and I'm almost 79."
Son Luther, 53, chimes in: "She loves Ron Santo. That's her man. She's blind but she listens to the games religiously." (Luther flew in from his home in Houston to surprise his mom by taking her to a Cubs game.)
Any other Cubs fans in the family? "My two other sons and my daughter. And my mom (Zelma Pearl Johnson, 96)."
Besides your bag and jersey any other Cubs stuff? Yes! She proudly displays the Cubs cap, autographed by Fergie Jenkins.
The game day logo lineup: Cubs cap, Kosuke Fukudome headband, Fukudome jersey, rubber Cubs bracelets (2), Cubs jacket, Cubs socks, red and blue braces on his teeth. And there's more Cubs stuff at home.
From his pal Graham Allison, 12: "He's total Cubs."
How long has Nick been a Cubs fan? "Since I was in third grade."
Favorite players? Fukudome and Ryan Theriot
What were you thinking when you got dressed for the game? "I had Cubs on the brain and I had fashion on the brain and how can I mix them up?"
So you deliberately chose a Cubby blue shirt? "Yes, and I have a bubble vest in my backpack. It has a thin stripe."
Sort of like baseball pinstripes? "Exactly."
Were you deliberately trying to stay away from anything that says "Cubs"? "My style is not gaudy at all but I do have a Cubs T-shirt."
Before the first pitch, she explained she wears her bracelet emblazoned "LUCKY" to games because "It brings us luck." (Cubs lost to the Diamondbacks 13-5.)
Let's hear about those 'Go Cubs' shades: "I just bought them from a vendor selling them at Moe's Cantina (a restaurant near Wrigley Field)."
How much? "Ten dollars. Totally worth it! Though (with the writing on the lenses) they're kind of hard to see through."
On her red, white and blue scarf — with no Cubs logo: "I saw this last year at Urban Outfitters and I'm like, 'Cubs!' I gotta get it."
One more thing: "I'm from St. Louis. I hate the Cardinals. My grandfather is a Cubs fan."
The shirt, is it true? Megan: "Yes." Scott: "I'm the recipient." Megan: "I saw it at Victoria's Secret at the Orland Square Mall. Instantly, I had to buy it."
Any shirt tales? Megan: "I had a guy selling T-shirts say, 'I'm a Cubs fan. Kiss me.'" Scott: "She better not."
More Cubs mania: Scott has a Cubby bear tattoo on his biceps. Megan polished her nails Cubs blue for the game. They hope to have their wedding reception at Wrigley Field and, although the color theme will be hot pink, "We'll work in some Cubs," says Megan. Tune playing as bride and groom arrive at the reception? "Go Cubs Go."
Is your boy an aspiring major leaguer? "He likes to throw the ball around — and a lot of other stuff." Young Prez is a third-generation Cubs fan with a full Cubs wardrobe.
Such as? Mom Cristina enumerates. "He's got Cubs PJs, a little Cubs suit, a hoodie, some receiving blankets and throws." The personalized matching caps in the photo were purchased at Lids on game day.
Leaving the park after watching the lopsided Cubs loss: Prez: "You can't win all of them." Cristina: "At least it didn't rain."
