Well excuse me Mr. Harvick. Last week I asked the question who would you rather have Kyle Busch or Carl Edwards? Apparently Kevin Harvick took issue with me leaving him out, and laid the snack down in Martinsville and given what he did last season, put himself at the top of the list of those ready to make a run at unseating Jimmie Johnson as champ.
"Well, I think when you look at the two wins, I feel it good about our -- I'll take our chances on making the Chase with the wild card stuff," said Harvick. "So here we are, six weeks into the season, and I feel like we can take more chances than we did last year, just because -- I'm not saying that is exactly what we will need to be."
The thing that is amazing is that while California is a track that has been good for Happy, Martinsville, not so much. So come out and win at this rack shows that they serving notice to the rest of the field.
"It's a great day because of the fact of we have been so bad here," said Gil Marin, Harvick's crew chief. "I mean, I've been coming here with RCR for ten years and up until last year, we were hit and miss with all three teams or however many we have brought here and we had an opportunity to win both races last year and messed up and didn't do it.".
"And when we started the day, we weren't very good but at the end, it was pretty good and obviously it was the best car on the racetrack," said Harvick. "It's just one of those deals where we were just -- maybe we were just brought up different, I don't know. We just race different."
I guess so. Is this change enough to make him the man to beat this year? Well, I'm not ready to go that far, Jimmie is still the one to beat. But he will be there, and I won't discount him again.
