Millions without power, cities underwater, Superstorm Sandy has caused so much damage on the East Coast it could be a long time before we know just how much.
The East Coast isn't the only place impacted by Sandy. Kansans are also feeling the storm's impact.
"No bigger than any other storm really for us, the impact," said Chris Calvert at M. Bruenger Trucking. "But you know they're coming, you just have to go with the flow."
That's plenty big enough. M. Bruenger Trucking has a half dozen trucks stuck from Pennsylvania to New York to Maryland, waiting for Sandy's floods to recede.
"One made it in early enough to get into New York City, where he's sitting now still waiting to unload in Brooklyn," said Calvert.
They're trucks that can't unload, can't pick up new loads, and can't make the company any money. Managers spent the day Tuesday trying to reorganize shipping schedules to make up for the delays.
"In transportation it's kind of what you do," Calvert explained, "just problem solve and that's what we're doing with this."
Which means that every day Sandy causes problems on the East Coast companies right here in Kansas are losing money.
M. Bruenger says many of its customers here in Wichita are also having to wait on shipments those stranded trucks are supposed to bring back.
