The top theater productions from Wichita high schools this past school year are honored at the 11th annual Jester Awards at the Orpheum Theatre Friday night.
The Jester Award program recognizes the work, creativity, and devotion that faculty and students put into their high school musicals. During this past school year the Music Theatre of Wichita reviewed a total of 27 musical theater productions from 25 area schools. The program tonight featured highlights from some of the nominated shows plus special performances by outstanding actors and actresses.
Two students were also chosen to represent MTWichita at the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards. The winners were Gavin Myers of Bishop Carroll High School and Lindsey Wells from Wichita Collegiate. They will each go to the Minskoff Theatre in New York on June 25th for the awards. Both Myers and Wells also were awarded a $1,000 scholarship from MTWichita.
