A tornado didn’t ruin one couple’s wedding. Some are calling it a “true” Kansas wedding.

Caleb Pence and his bride Candra were in the middle of their wedding ceremony at his parent’s farm outside Harper Saturday evening when a tornado hit just miles away.

Eyewitness News talked to Caleb's mother today about the experience of having a wedding during a tornado warning.

Carla Pence told us the family checked radar and knew the tornado was several miles away.

She said they would have canceled the wedding if they didn't feel safe. The wedding photographer, Cate Eighmey, also went along.

Eighmey says she grew up in this part of Kansas so she understands tornadoes. Her pictures are already a hit, spreading on Facebook. The photos will make for a memorable wedding album.

The newlyweds are on the honeymoon but had to answer calls from the media including the Weather Channel.

Caleb's mother says, "this is just who we are - wheat farmers who live in Kansas and we have tornadoes."
