Train derailment in Saline County (Weston Wilson / July 29, 2012) |
(SALINA, Saline County)—
A train derails just west of Salina Sunday afternoon leaving behind smoke and fire.
It happened right around 3pm at Cloud street and West highway Old 40. The smoke and fire broke out in a small field. It was caused by sparks from the train. Officials say they easily contained the fire. 26 coal cars were involved. The train cars dumped coal along the naerby field. No one was hurt.
