It's probably not what you think of when you hear the words senior prom.
Friday night residents at Homestead Assisted Living in Wichita wanted to put together a 50's style prom and who better to sing at it than an icon from that era.
A worker at the assisted living center was friends with Frankie Valens on Facebook. He asked Valens if he would perform and the singer agreed.
Valen's played some of his hit songs including "This magic moment." Many of the residents came dressed in 50's style clothing.
"I had fun," Valens said. "You never know when you're coming to an assisted living area how many people would get up and dance but I was shocked, there were all kinds of people that got up."
Valen's has toured the United States and was showcased in Vegas as well. He now says he sings for the lord, helping to run Frankie Valens Ministries along with his wife Phyllis. That's located in Clearwater, Kansas.
