Valentines day may be over, but love was in the air at an assisted living center in southeast Wichita.
The Carrington at Cherry Creek on east Pawnee held it's first wedding between residents on Saturday.
Michael Lesher and Rhonda Nickelson met last year. They quickly became friends, which then blossomed into love. Neither have been married before, or had a lot of money. So residents and friends pitched in to help create today's ceremony.
"The cake they did it for free, because they are low income and they didn't have much money," said Sharon Moore. activity director. "Her dress we got it at a thrift store, it was brand new, never been worn. We got it for half price."
Michael said he is blessed.
"I just thank the Lord for him giving her to me," he said.
The center hopes this is the first of many more weddings to come.
