For the second straight week, Kevin Harvick takes the checkered flag, this time at Martinsville. Harvick beating Dale Earnhardt Junior to the line with Kyle Busch finished third. The win ended a stretch of 9 races at the Virginia track that had been won by either Denny Hamlin or Jimmie Johnson and it's the first win at Martinsville for the 29. Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top 5.
"I didnt think we had the car to do that. I had a lot of fun racing with Dale Junior," said Harvick. I think it just shows what we are mad of today. We just keep fighting."
"The 29 it was coming and there wasn't much I could do," said Earnhardt. "I didn't know what elee I could to. I didn't have that great of a car. It was a top 10 car, but not a racing winning car."
Johnson and Hamlin's teams both made uncharacteristic late race mistakes at the Virginia track, Hamlin pitting from the top 5 a few laps before a caution came out, and was mired at the back of the lead lap. Johnson would join him after a pit road speeding penalty sent him to end of the lead lap. They would finish 12th and 11th respectively.
Kyle Busch takes over the points lead, with previous points leader Carl Edwards dropping to second, then its Johnson, Kurt Busch and Harvick.
Emporia's Clint Bowyer finished 9th and is now up to 16th in the points.
