There's a new effort to save the Dodge City theater. It was built in 1929 and showed feature Hollywood films for the first time in the small cow town.
The theater has been vacant for more than a decade. And just last month, the Dodge Theater sign was taken down. That urged three people to get together to try and save the historic building.
"With the advent of the internet and the information age, you can still have a big city life in a small town. And part of that is things like the Dodge Theater and that's why we want it to stay in Dodge. We want to see it restored and we want to see a piece of history preserved," said Creator of Save the Dodge City Theater project Mark Vierthaler.
The group has until April 4th to collect $80,000.
