(WICHITA, Kan.)—
Wichita's getting a new park, one designed for grandparents. The groundbreaking was Friday and it should be ready sometime this spring. The park is off of Kellogg between Estelle and Volutsia. It will have a walking path, exercise station and a playground for kids.
AARP is paying for the park. The City of Wichita owns the vacant lot and it happy it will be used for something. "I hate using the taxpayers money to mow a piece of real estate that nobody gets to use. This was a piece real estate in a neighborhood. This is a win, win, win as far as I'm concerned," said parks director Doug Kupper.
If the weather continues to cooperate, the walking path will be done by the end of the year. The rest of the park will be finished sometime this spring.
