Prosecutors are pushing for a former Barber County official to serve prison time for stealing a bulldozer, tractors, and other heavy equipment from the county.

Steven Collier, former public works director for the county, has plead guilty to the the thefts from Barber County, and has agreed to pay $116,310 in restitution.

Collier is seeking probation, saying a toxic extramarital affair with a manipulative woman drove him to steal.

Court documents show prosecutors are asking the court to sentence Collier 12 - 18 months in prison.  They also noted Collier was in 5 extramarital affairs, including one after his indictment.  Prosecutors added while some money went to his ex-girlfriend, most went to the Colliers.
