How K-Dot decides when to close I-70
February 20, 2013
The winter storm is over, so now Kansans are digging out from the mess left behind. With the sun shining, snow is already starting to melt.
Schools/Other Weather-Related Closings:
Wichita schools, along with many other schools across Kansas closed again Tuesday. However, most schools expect to be back in class Wednesday.
The City of Wichita facilities and operations are operating as scheduled today. City officials will provide updates on how the winter storm is affecting operations and facilities if necessary.
Flights:
Most flights in and out of Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport are happening as scheduled. The only flights cancelled right now are to and from Chicago.
Roads:
Crews have been working around the clock to deal with the aftermath of the storm. Many of the major roads are now clear. KDOT reports all Kansas roads are now open.
The Emergency Accident Reporting Plan remains in effect in many parts of Kansas. If you are in a crash, the cars are drivable, and no alcohol or drugs are suspected - don't call 911 - simply exchange information with the other driver(s) and fill out an accident reporting form within 24 hours. You can find those forms at area Quik Trip stores, police substations and online.
Latest from KDOT:
K-DOT reopened several highways leading from southwestern Kansas into the Oklahoma Panhandle because of improved conditions.
- US-56 at Elkhart
- US-83 at Liberal
- K-25 in Stevens County
- US-183 to the Oklahoma State Line
- US-283 to the Oklahoma State Line
