The Wichita State University men’s golf team has been assigned the No. 7 seed in next week's Stanford Regional.  The Shockers are coming off an unprecedented fifth-consecutive Missouri Valley Conference championship.

Wichita State will be participating in its seventh-straight NCAA Regional when it hits the course May 17-19 at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif. The Shockers are in search of a trip to the NCAA Championship for the first time since back-to-back appearances in 2003 and 2004.

The top five teams from each of the six regional sites advance to the NCAA Championship at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Additionally, the top individual from a team that does not make the cut will be invited to the national tournament.

The WSU trio of juniors Rafael Becker, Tyler Gann, and Hunter Sparks has participated in NCAA Regional tournaments the last two years. Becker topped the Shockers with a 20th place finish last year at the South Central Regional, hosted by Indiana University.

Becker is the 2012 MVC Golfer of the Year while Sparks took medalist honors at last week's MVC Championship. Gann has twice captured MVC Golfer of the Week honors.

The team as a whole has captured seven tournament titles this year, including the MVC Championship for the fifth-straight year. The Shockers enter NCAA competition with the top scoring average in the country, according to GolfStat.
