Saturday afternoon will be very windy and warm for central and eastern Kansas as a cold front works its way into far western parts of our state. Afternoon highs will soar into the mid-80s to near 90 east of the front but behind it, folks will only see 60s and 70s.

Widely scattered showers and a few strong storms will develop throughout the day across western and central Kansas and some will be packing large hail and high winds. The severe storm threat should move into the Wichita area this evening.
The front, rain and storms, will push out of southeastern Kansas by Sunday afternoon followed by decreasing clouds, lighter winds and cooler temperatures. Look for highs in the middle to upper 70s Sunday and Monday, a welcome change from the summer-like heat we've endured lately.
A warming trend is on the way next week along with more storm chances arriving late Wednesday.
