Wednesday will bring more heat and even some gusty winds to our area.  Our highs will climb into the mid to upper-80s under a mostly sunny sky. Gusty winds will also be ramping-up across the western half of our state where gusts near 30 mph will be common by day's end. Strong winds, low humidity and dry ground will mean an extreme fire danger for northwestern Kansas where a Red Flag Fire warning has been issued.

Afternoon highs will stay in mid to upper-80s through Saturday and most of the state will remain dry.

Our best bet to get wet in quite a while will likely arrive Saturday with an approaching storm system and cold front. Look for scattered showers and storms to move into Kansas late Saturday into Sunday morning. Afternoon highs behind the weekend weather-maker will drop back into the more seasonal 70s.
