The snow storm may close schools and slow down traffic, but it doesn't stop some small businesses.
Workers might not make many sales when it snows, however they do get in some shoveling practice.
"Trying to keep the sidewalk clear, it's a losing battle," said Ryan Dirks of All Things BBQ in Delano.
The battle is worth the fight, when you own a small business.
"They will probably be shoveling the sidewalk every 30 to 45 minutes to keep it clear," said owner Kathy Cary. "For all those people who want to come in and get their grilling gear."
The shovel did get more action than the door bell, until customer Laura Frisbie came in.
"We always bar-b-que," Frisbie said. "Not in the snow, but I was driving by and thought I would stop in."
She got a lot of personal attention, as the only customer of the morning.
Cary did get a sale. During the slow times, she'll help train her newest employee who's been on the job 2 days.
"He probably didn't think he'd be shoveling especially since we haven't had snow in two years," Cary said. "We need the moisture and we welcome it."
All Things BBQ did close early though, to allow staff to get home before the rush hour traffic picked up.
