(WICHITA, Kan)—
On Sunday morning, Emirates Airline placed the single largest order in Boeing company history.
The airline purchased an additional 50 boeing 777s, making it the world's largest operator of 777 aircraft. The deal is worth $18 billion. The agreement also contains options to supply an additional 20 aircraft, which could add $8 billion to the deal.
Albaugh had indicated earlier in the week that Boeing was heading for a record year in orders for the 777.
The purchase announcement was made during the Middle East's largest air show. It began Sunday in Dubai and will last through Thursday.
The deal is good news for Wichita. Spirit Aerosystems will build several crucial parts of the 777. You'll find a diagram showing which parts are made by Spirit here: Spirit Responsibility
