(WICHITA, Kan)—
On Sunday morning, Emirates Airline placed the single largest order in Boeing company history.
The airline purchased an additional 50 boeing 777s, making it the world's largest operator of 777 aircraft. The deal is worth $18 billion. The agreement also contains options to supply an additional 20 aircraft, which could add $8 billion to the deal."This is the largest order that has ever been placed with the Boeing company in our 95 year history," said James Albaugh, Chief Executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Certainly we are very proud that Emirates has the confidence in us that they do."
Albaugh had indicated earlier in the week that Boeing was heading for a record year in orders for the 777.
The purchase announcement was made during the Middle East's largest air show. It began Sunday in Dubai and will last through Thursday.
