(WICHITA, Kan.)—
May 8, 2012 marks the 10th anniversary of AirTran Airways service in Wichita. The day will be marked with celebrations in the main terminal and AirTran gate.
The airline will give passengers cake and refreshments in the gate. AirTran/Southwest representatives will also be on hand throughout the day to give away goodies to AirTran customers. The Prairie Rose Rangers performed in the main terminal from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
AirTran Airways was purchased by Southwest Airlines in May 2011 and expects to complete the integration process within the next few years. Southwest service is expected to begin in Wichita sometime in 2013.
