A good cause brings out golfers on a very hot day.  Friends and colleagues of retired Wichita police lieutenant Kenny Landwehr hosted a golf tournament Tuesday.

Just before retiring after 35 years on the force, Landwehr was diagnosed with cancer. Today's event was organized to help him with medical costs.

But it's also a good time to renew friendships.  Wichita Police Captain Jeff Easter days,  "What's great about it is that the P-D and the Sheriff's Office, all law enforcement has different shifts so you don't get to see those folks as often and this brings us all together to be able to see each other and catch up on what's going on and catch up on families and it's just a fantastic event for that".

During his years on the police force, Landwehr supervised the investigation of more than 600 homicides.
