Lindsay Lohan in court (L.A. Times / May 24, 2010) |
BEVERLY HILLS -- Actress Lindsay Lohan has reached out to fashion designer Chanel to help customize her newest accessory: a court-ordered alcohol monitoring bracelet.
On Monday, Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel stipulated that Lohan wear a SCRAM device to measure the presence of alcohol in her body as a condition of her parole.
Lohan, 23, must also drink no alcohol, attend all of her required alcohol classes unless the class conflicts with a random drug test and undergo random, once-per-week drug and/or alcohol testing in the Los Angeles area.
Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, asked Judge Revel for more frequent testing in lieu for the SCRAM device, saying the bracelet would interfere with Lohan's upcoming acting and modeling projects, but Revel was not persuaded.
Holley also told the judge that her client has photo shoots and movie filming in Texas and was planning to undergo drug/alcohol testing there. But, Revel fired back, suggesting Lohan may have to delay the project.
"She needs to submit to random drug testing here, not in Texas," Revel responded.
Holley proceeded to tell the judge that Lohan missed last week's alcohol class because her uncle -- her mother's brother -- died. Revel asked if the actress attended her uncle's funeral, and Holley said no.
When asked if she was objecting the conditions, Holley took a moment to talk to Lohan and later backed off, saying they would comply with the orders.
Now, however, Lohan is seeking to help camouflage the bracelet with the help of French fashion giant Chanel.
"Can CHANEL please help me out by getting me some stickers to put on my SCRAM bracelet so that I can at least wear a chic dress?! maybe!?," Lohan posted on her Twitter account.
Monday's hearing was related to Lohan's 2007 no contest plea to driving under the influence. Her next court date is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. July 6.
If Revel determines Lohan violated the terms of her probation, she could face 180 days in jail.
The actress' probation was extended for a year in October after she missed some alcohol education classes while making a movie in Texas.
Lohan returned to Los Angeles from Paris Saturday after Revel issued a warrant for her arrest. Revel later recalled the bench warrant.
The actress left her commercial flight separately from the rest of the passengers, and attempted to exit the Los Angeles International Airport incognito. However, she was caught on tape by online celebrity news outlet, Hollywood.tv

Lohan was not arrested at the airport because her attorney posted $10,000 bail.
The bench warrant had been issued Thursday after the 23-year-old actress failed to show up for a mandatory court hearing, claiming her passport had been stolen.
Lohan was in France for the Cannes Film Festival.
