A woman survived a horrific accident in which she slammed into the back of a car transporting long wooden poles — sending them through her windshield and rear window. One of the poles struck her in the head.
The accident happened on Mount Baker Highway near Everson Goshen Road Monday morning.
Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said the 36-year-old woman, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry, hit the “tipi poles” in such a way that they carried her rearview mirror through the back of her car (see photo).
“The driver pulling the load stated he was slowing down for a dump truck turning left ahead. He estimated he was traveling 25 mph when the collision happened,” Leary said.
She was rushed to a local hospital with various injuries but is expected to survive.
