DAY FOUR- Monday, June 6
Once again the Kansas wind canceled my plans on seeing the Hot Air Balloon Glow show at Delano Park. The wind turned out not being such a bad thing though considering the humidity of the day. Instead, I spent today checking out the Cessna Kids’ Korner and children's entertainment shows at the Exploration Place Park.
The Kids’ Korner has plenty of amusing rides that children of all ages can enjoy. There are several inflatable bouncers and carnival rides that have been keeping the children happy at the Riverfest. Other amusements at the Exploration Park include a "make-it-yourself” slushy machine and face-painter stand where children can get their faces painted with the design of their choice. When the kids are hot, they can go over and take a run under the water sprayer at the Exploration Park’s picnic grove and adventure play yard.
The first children’s show that I saw today was the Notorious Roscoe Magic Show. Roscoe provided magic, as well as laughs, for both parents and children. He performed several different magic tricks that included everything from disappearing steel balls to Chinese linking rings. Roscoe ended the show by hammering a nail into his nose, which left the children both in shock and amusement. He will be performing later this week on Wednesday and Thursday evening.
The last children’s show of the day was held by Wichita’s one and only Bubble Man. I can still remember seeing the Bubble Man for the first time when I was a kid and how amazing I thought his show was back then. Therefore, I couldn’t help but be a little excited to see what tricks he had up his sleeve. He taught the children all different ways how to make bubbles from household items ranging from wire hangers, Christmas light containers, and plastic 6 pack rings. All the items that the Bubble Man uses in his show can be found at the Dollar Store and he walks children through how they can perform the same tricks at home. The Bubble Man show is definitely entertaining and one that the kids will love if they haven’t already seen it. He will be performing on Wednesday and Friday this week so check it out!
Tomorrow I’ll be checking out the Oldies concert and other Riverfest events. It is going to be another hot day so continue to drink plenty of water and try to find some shade during the day!
