Sam Bradford Staying at Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford is coming back for another chance at a national championship at Oklahoma.

Bradford announced Wednesday afternoon that he was coming back for his junior season after leading the Sooners to the BCS championship game, where they lost to Florida.

Bradford led the nation with 50 touchdown passes and a quarterback rating of over 180, and he likely would have been one of the top quarterbacks taken in this year's NFL draft if he had decided to leave school.

Instead, Bradford will try to accomplish the one goal he couldn't reach in his record-setting second year as the starter by leading the Sooners to a national title. Bradford already holds numerous Oklahoma records, including the career mark for touchdown passes and the season mark for yardage.

He needs only 82 more yards passing to break 2003 Heisman winner Jason White's career passing record.
