Many used the nice weather to hang Christmas lights this weekend. But one Sedgwick County woman found all of her hard work disappeared.
Linda Broyles spent six hours Friday hanging Christmas lights around her house. She strung 10 feet of red and green rope lights around the yard, using 60 custom made PVC pipes to hold them in place.
Saturday morning when she woke up, she found all of her lights were gone. Someone had ripped the PVC pipes out of the ground and took off with them and the lights.
Broyles is upset because she's been hanging the lights for 40 years and puts a lot of time and energy into them. She says there's not enough time to remake all of the pipes for this Christmas. She says she doesn't understand why someone would steal something she uses to brighten up the holidays. "I can't imagine what kind of heart these people have, actually I don't think they have any heart at all," she said.
Broyles says she can only hope someone will find the PVC pipes in a pile somewhere and return them to her. She' still debating whether to put up the rest of her Christmas decorations because they have much more sentimental value.
