Thunder Suffers Another Loss

INDEPENDENCE, MO- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-1 to the Missouri Mavericks at the Independence Events Center on Friday night.

The Mavericks took a 1-0 lead at 10:29 in the first period.  Karl Sellan scored a power play goal, cleaning up a rebound just outside of the Thunder net.  Bill Vandermeer's one-timer from the slot at 13:39 made it 2-0.

Nick Sirota deflected Andrew Davis's shot from the point at 11:39 in the second for a shorthanded goal that gave the Mavericks a 3-0 lead.  Wichita crept back within two goals on Joel Hanson's score at 13:55.  Chad Hinz scored on the power play at 4:19 in the third to close out the scoring.

Scott Campbell took the loss, stopping 36 of 40 shots.  Chris McAllister and Chris Kovalcik picked up fighting majors.  Wichita was 0 for 5 on power plays.

The Thunder returns home on Saturday when they host the Amarillo Gorillas at 7:05 p.m.
