One person is dead and three others are hurt after an accident Sunday afternoon in Ness County. The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on K-4 just west of Utica.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that 31-year-old Ricardo Martinez of Kinsley was driving east on K-4, when he drove into a ditch along the highway. The SUV struck a field entrance, went airborne, rolled and landed on its top in a field.
The KHP says Martinez was taken to Ransom Hospital where he died. 19-year-old Carlos Martinez, Jr., and 21-year-old Arturo Martinez were hurt and transferred to a Wichita hospital. 42-year-old Carlos Quintana from Great Bend was also riding in the vehicle. He was hurt and taken to Ransom Hospital.
Investigators say no one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
