Walton Damaged by Storm

(WALTON, Kan.)

Driving up highway 50 through Harvey County you can't miss seeing what Sunday's storm brought down. But it's not until you get to the city of Walton that you see people out surveying just how bad it is.

"As we were walking down the stairs we heard everything," said Chrissy Spragg. Before her family and her brother's family could even get to the basement, mother nature got to them.

Their fence is down, their shed's roof ripped off, and her brother and his girlfriend only bought the house one week ago.

"I Just cried. It's horrible but at least the house is ok. It didn't touch the house," said Eden Koerner.

Just down the street, Raymond Henry's home also made it through the storm, but the camper in his front yard didn't fair quite as well.

"I didn't know what was going on until I looked out the window."  But like much of Walton, Henry knows it could have been worse.

"I opened the door and I looked in it and the only thing I could do was laugh. Ain't nothing else you can do. I can replace this, I couldn't replace my wife so I'm fine."

With trees lying horizontal and metal hanging from the trees still standing, Walton prepares to put back up what the storm took down.
